Holistic Trek

Holistic Trek | Yoga Trek

With repeated requests from our old friends/students who want to learn the art of yoga while trekking in the mountains, the Kathmandu Center of Healing has recently introduced a merger of Yoga and trek so as to offer students to study yoga in the nature, gain more and pure energy in the foothills of the mountains.

Yoga
Yoga =’Unity’ ‘Oneness’. Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yog’ which means to ‘to join’. The science of life, the integration of mind and body, the union of the spirit to the divine, via tools left behind from rishis, ascetics and yogis of ages past.

To many, the mention of ‘yoga’ conjures up images of postures(Asanas) to develop flexibility, general body health and of course awareness. This is just the beginning. While yoga’s central theme remains the highest goal of the spiritual path; yogic practices can give direct and tangible benefits to everyone regardless of their spiritual practice.

The benefits from yoga are many and in essence it balances the body, mind and spirit.

What is Holistic trek or Yoga Trek?
Trek is defined as a Journey on foot, especially in the mountains which can be done for just a few days or for a month or more. Whilst on trek, Local Sherpa serves as a guide, a registered yoga teacher as a yoga guide who conducts the sessions in the morning and porters carry your personal belongings.  For night either you can stay in the tents or local lodges simply known as tea-houses and sleep in your own sleeping bags.

The basic idea of Yoga treks are designed to gain more focus and energy and to experience the art of  ancient yoga in the mountain like the yogis of ages past had.

Royal Yoga Trek

Prince Charles of Britain did a short trek in 1981, and the route he had trekked has been swiftly named as the “Royal Trek’. A memorable experience walking in the villages among the cultivated fields & meeting the local people. A smooth and easy trek and yoga makes it mind soothing.
